About the Author

Ted Bagley, a vice-president at a large pharmaceutical company on the West Coast, was born in Birmingham, Alabama to Ted and Eddie Mae Bagley both deceased. His brother William Bagley, recently retired, resides in Indianapolis with his wife Larnell and daughter Jennifer. After graduating from high school, Bagley joined Uncle Sams Army where he served in the Old Guard, a ceremonial unit in Ft. Myer, Virginia. After serving for several years in that prestigious unit, he was sent to Viet Nam at the height of the conflict. At the end of his military career, he continued his degree at Ohio State and later graduated from Franklin Business Law School in Columbus, Ohio. After college, he joined the General Electric Companys world-renowned Executive Leadership Program where he served in many capacities of the human resources field. After working his way to the executive ranks, the author left GE to join the Russell Corporation based in Atlanta, Georgia. After several years with Russell, he joined Dell Computer in Nashville, Tennessee. Bagley currently is an executive with Amgen Pharmaceuticals in Thousand Oaks California. His hobbies are bike riding, reading, skating, and minor car repair. He has a wife, Debra, and four children, Marcus, Chantal, Christopher, and Jared. The authors passions are: public speaking, counseling, working with young people, and exercising. He has written two novels, The Tragedy of Darkness and My Personal War Within.

Zilla lets drivers track every aspect of their ride in style by using the iPhones GPS, accelerometer, compass and data connection to analyze the motion of their car, accurately plotting G-force, acceleration, braking and cornering forces across a series of stylish live graphs, dials and gauges.

Nathan Hamey, lead developer on Zilla says, We created Zilla because we loved the idea that it was possible to replicate the kinds of cool gadgets Japanese supercars have with an iPhone. We figured if a couple of fellow car enthusiasts downloaded it wed be pretty happy, but we massively underestimated how successful it would become and just how passionate people are about it. We even received a letter last week from a guy whod bought a dedicated iPhone 4S just to run Zilla on – its permanently hooked up through his headdeck. We were so stoked we added a new feature into this release just for him.

The code in this major release, Zilla 2.0, has essentially been stripped and re-built from the ground up to take full advantage of the capabilities of the iPhone 4S, offering improved accuracy, advanced customization and paves the way for a forthcoming feature to let users log, playback and export data on their runs.

Weve also had great feedback from users who wanted the ability to further customize Zilla, so we have added downloadable color schemes and other controls for users to match the appearance of the app to their car. We stripped out and re-built a ton of code, even tweaking some of it for extra accuracy with a couple of clever algorithms originally designed by the US military, to guide missiles down chimneys. Most US drivers understand it is a rare occurrence that they are going to receive a courtesy call from their auto insurer telling them they qualify for a better deal on their auto insurance premium.
